ASO Qualitative

ASO Qualitative

Test Name:
ASO Qualitative
Description:

This test checks for the presence of ASO antibodies in the blood. These antibodies are produced by the body in response to a Streptococcus bacterial infection (like strep throat or skin infection).

  • Purpose: To find out if you’ve had a recent strep infection.
  • Why it matters: A past strep infection can lead to complications like rheumatic fever or kidney problems if not treated properly.
  • Qualitative result: The test only shows whether ASO antibodies are present or not (positive or negative), not the exact amount.
